The Power of a Poster

Throughout the Island’s history DeLaSalle has undergone numerous changes and additions. These outcomes vary in impact, some highly positive, some of which going unnoticed. From school lunch recipe alterations to a new paint job in the gym, change has always been in the best interest of our community. A change that I have observed to be quite impactful in unspoken ways, is the access to Canva Pro.

If you are unfamiliar with Canva, it is a site for creative design, filled with countless templates, fonts, poster designs, and endless infographics for instagram posts or club posters. As a leader for some of DeLaSalle’s clubs and activities, I have empathy for the importance of informing and advertising for your activity. I have been a long time supporter of Canva, regularly accessing its templates for a, “Friday morning Asian Student Association meeting”… Prior to the unlimited access, I found myself stumped with locked templates or designs on Canva “regular,” but this 2024-2025 school year, DeLaSalle gifted its students with Canva Pro. This pro account directly links to your school email, and gives access to a variety of possibilities and options within Canva. Thank you to the DeLaSalle tech/administration or whoever advocated for this impactful addition.

The idea for this article all began for me as I was walking through the halls of our school. Adorning walls in sparkly infographics and bubble lettered fonts, I realized that Canva Pro is the unsung hero behind promoting clubs, affinity groups, and activities for needed recognition. Go try out Canva for yourself, if you have not already, and see where the technology and power of a poster takes you.
